The Government of Ghana has begun diplomatic and security engagements following reports that a truck carrying Ghanaian tomato traders was caught in a terrorist attack in Titao, northern Burkina Faso.

The incident, which occurred on Saturday, February 14, 2026, was confirmed in a statement by the Minister for the Interior and National Security, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak.

The truck was reportedly transporting traders engaged in cross-border tomato trade when it was affected during the attack. While initial reports confirm the vehicle was involved, authorities say details regarding casualties and injuries remain unclear.

Describing the situation as troubling, the Minister emphasized that the government is treating the matter with urgency. He noted that Ghana’s Embassy in Burkina Faso is working closely with local authorities to assess the situation on the ground.

Officials are coordinating a visit to the scene to obtain accurate information and determine whether any Ghanaian nationals were injured or killed in the attack.

The government has assured families and the general public that it will continue to monitor developments closely and provide timely updates as more confirmed information emerges.
