The Government of Ghana has confirmed that a truck transporting Ghanaian tomato traders was caught up in a terrorist attack in Titao, a town in northern Burkina Faso.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Minister for the Interior and National Security, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, disclosed that the incident occurred on Saturday, February 14, 2026.

According to the statement, the truck, which was carrying traders involved in the tomato business, was reportedly affected during the attack. However, the exact number of casualties and the condition of those on board have not yet been officially confirmed.

The Minister described the development as disturbing and expressed concern over the safety of Ghanaian nationals traveling within the sub-region. He assured the public that the government is taking urgent steps to establish the full details surrounding the incident.

Ghana’s Embassy in Burkina Faso is currently engaging with Burkinabe authorities and coordinating efforts to visit the scene of the attack. The visit aims to gather firsthand information and assist in identifying any Ghanaian nationals who may have been affected.

The government says it is closely monitoring the situation and will provide further updates as more verified information becomes available.
