As part of its 25th Anniversary celebration, The Union Social Club will hold a landmark Public Lecture themed “Brotherhood and Nationhood: Social Clubs in Ghana’s Development”, on Friday, 14th August 2026, at 4:00 PM at the *Accra City Hotel.
The lecture forms part of a series of activities marking a quarter-century of fellowship, service, and impact by the Club, and will bring together members, dignitaries, and the wider public for an afternoon of reflection on the role social clubs have played, and continue to play, in shaping Ghana’s civic and national life.
The occasion will be chaired by Emeritus Professor Ivan Addae-Mensah, former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana, a distinguished Professor of Chemistry, Fellow of the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences, and recipient of the Companion of the Order of the Volta (COV).
The keynote address will be delivered by Lawyer Ace Anan Ankomah, Senior Partner at Bentsi-Enchill, Letsa & Ankomah (BELA) and a member of The Union. Mr. Ankomah brings over three decades of experience in dispute resolution, arbitration, and corporate governance, and previously served as a Senior Lecturer at the Ghana School of Law.
Speaking ahead of the event, President of The Union Social Club, Dr. Isaac Adupong, said: “Twenty-five years ago, a small circle of friendship was formed on the belief that brotherhood could outlast any season. Today, that same brotherhood stands as a reminder of what is possible when men commit not only to each other, but to the nation we all serve. This lecture is our way of honouring that journey, and of reminding ourselves that the true measure of any fellowship is not how long it lasts, but how much impact it leaves behind.”
The Public Lecture is themed around the broader question of how voluntary associations and social clubs can contribute meaningfully to national development and is a fitting reflection point as the Union Social Club marks 25 years under its guiding philosophy: of friendship and impact.
