President John Dramani Mahama has called on Ghanaians to uphold the values of integrity, unity, service, and tolerance that defined the life and leadership of the late President John Evans Atta Mills.

President Mahama made the call during the 14th wreath-laying ceremony held at Asomdwee Park to commemorate the anniversary of the passing of the former President. The ceremony brought together the family of President Mills, senior state officials, and other distinguished guests to honour his memory and reflect on his contribution to Ghana’s democracy.

In his address, President Mahama said Professor Mills’ greatest legacy was not merely the position he occupied as President of Ghana, but the principles and values he demonstrated throughout his life and public service.

He described the late President as a leader whose humility, honesty, compassion, and commitment to democratic governance continue to inspire Ghanaians.

According to President Mahama, the best way to preserve President Mills’ memory is not only through annual commemorations, but by actively practising the ideals he stood for, including peaceful coexistence, national unity, selfless service, and dedication to building a just and prosperous nation.

“Professor Mills’ dream now belongs to all of us, and we must continue to work together to fulfil that dream,” President Mahama said.

He encouraged citizens to draw lessons from the late President’s leadership style and work collectively towards strengthening Ghana’s democracy and development.

President John Evans Atta Mills, who served as Ghana’s President from 2009 until his death in 2012, remains remembered for his calm leadership style, commitment to peace, and dedication to public service.

The wreath-laying ceremony at Asomdwee Park served as a reminder of his enduring influence and the responsibility of present and future generations to uphold the values he championed.
