Public Outrage Grows Over Missing Food Supplies Linked to Rans Logistics

Public frustration is mounting following revelations that Rans Logistics was involved in a major scandal involving missing food supplies and questionable payments. The company, flagged in the Auditor-General’s report, has refunded GH₵19.1 million—but for many, the repayment does little to address the gravity of the situation.

At the center of the controversy is the disappearance of thousands of tonnes of rice and maize, commodities critical to national food security. Even more concerning is the finding that Rans Logistics received payment for over 7,000 metric tonnes of rice that were never delivered or accounted for.

The refund, rather than easing concerns, has sparked outrage among citizens who see it as evidence that public funds were misused in the first place. Many are asking how such large discrepancies went unnoticed until an audit exposed them.

There are also growing demands for transparency regarding how contracts were awarded and monitored. Civil society groups have warned that without decisive action, similar incidents could continue to undermine trust in public institutions.

With investigations ongoing, the case is quickly becoming a symbol of deeper governance challenges, as citizens demand not just refunds—but justice and reform.
