The Minister of Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovation, Samuel Nartey George, has strongly criticised Lincoln University following its decision to cancel an honorary doctorate ceremony for John Dramani Mahama.

In a post shared on X on March 24, 2026, the outspoken minister described the university’s last-minute reversal as shameful, questioning its decision to withdraw the honour after formally inviting the former president.

He further stressed that Ghanaians would not succumb to what he termed as “devilish” external influences, insisting that the country’s values cannot be compromised.

“Massive respect to H.E. @JDMahama. Our values cannot be diluted or bought by sinister forces on the prowl. The folks at Lincoln University should bow their heads in shame,” he wrote.

Sam George also praised President Mahama, highlighting national pride and sovereignty, adding that no external entity has the authority to dictate Ghana’s internal affairs.

His remarks follow the abrupt cancellation of the ceremony, where Mahama was expected to be honoured for his global leadership and advocacy for reparatory justice.
