The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fifi Kwetey, has hinted that a reshuffle of ministers and government appointees may be imminent as part of efforts to enhance efficiency and strengthen leadership across key sectors.

Speaking on TV3 Ghana on February 15, 2026, Mr. Kwetey explained that although the government’s performance since taking office has been generally positive, there remains room for improvement.

“It’s always important that, despite the fact that things have gone on very well in the first year, the president, who is the leader, would always want to see where things can still be done better,” he said.

According to him, reshuffles are typically carried out within the context of improving governance and ensuring optimal performance in critical sectors.

“So, reshuffle normally is done within that context where you want to see, in this particular sector, even though things are okay, I can still do better if I move somebody else into that place,” he noted.

Mr. Kwetey further indicated that adjustments could also involve repositioning officials to areas where their strengths may be better utilized.

“Maybe this one is not too effective in this sector, let’s move into that sector where maybe you will be a leader. So, I think reshuffling will be a possibility, and from what I pick up in corridors, yes,” he stated.

While he did not provide a specific timeline for the anticipated changes, the NDC General Secretary was emphatic that a reshuffle would take place.

“We definitely are going to be having a reshuffle. I wouldn’t be able to say how soon, but definitely,” he affirmed.

Political analysts suggest that such a move, if executed, could signal the administration’s commitment to continuous improvement and internal performance assessment.
