The Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA), in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation and Agri-Impact Limited, has taken a major step toward advancing women’s economic empowerment through the Harnessing Agriculture Productivity and Prosperity for Youth (HAPPY) Project.

Speaking at a ceremony held in Savelugu, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Enterprises Agency, Mrs. Margaret Ansei Magoo, announced the successful completion of an intensive capacity-building program for 250 women-owned soya processing businesses across five districts in the Northern Region.

The beneficiaries received hands-on training in food safety, packaging, and product labeling, key competencies designed to improve product quality, enhance market access, and position the women-led enterprises for sustainable growth within Ghana’s agribusiness value chain.

Beyond technical training, Mrs. Magoo presented essential start-up kits and processing equipment to the women entrepreneurs, an intervention aimed at immediately boosting their production capacity and operational efficiency.

“This is how we create dignified and sustainable jobs,” Mrs. Magoo stated. “By matching hard work with the right skills, tools, and opportunities, we empower women not just to survive, but to grow thriving businesses that strengthen local economies.”

The HAPPY Project aligns with national efforts to promote youth and women entrepreneurship, reduce unemployment, and unlock the economic potential of agriculture as a driver of inclusive development.

The initiative forms part of broader strategies under the Resetting Ghana agenda, reinforcing the government’s commitment to enterprise development, food security, and economic resilience.
