The High Court (Commercial Division) in Accra has enforced a multimillion-dollar judgment issued by the High Court of England and Wales against businessman Nana Kwame Bediako, widely known as Cheddar, ordering him to pay more than US$14.9 million plus interest and legal costs.

According to a notice published in the Daily Graphic on Thursday, January 22, 2026, the English judgment was formally registered in Ghana on May 20, 2025, after an application by UK-based firm Cola Holdings Limited.

The original ruling was delivered on January 23, 2025, by Deputy Master Sabic KC of the High Court of England and Wales, with additional variations granted in March and April 2025. Once registered locally, the judgment became fully binding and enforceable under Ghanaian law.

The Accra Commercial Court ordered Mr. Bediako to pay a principal debt of US$14,928,314.70, together with interest calculated at eight percent per annum from January 23, 2025, until the amount is completely settled.

Court records indicate that by December 23, 2025, the accrued interest alone had reached US$1,092,834.64, significantly increasing the financial burden.

In addition, the court awarded GH₵15,000 in legal costs in favour of Cola Holdings Limited.

Using the Treasury exchange rate of GH₵16.15 to one US dollar, the total liability — including interest and costs — stands at approximately GH₵258.76 million, a figure expected to rise as interest continues to accumulate.

The court further approved substituted service of the judgment, directing that copies be posted at Mr. Bediako’s residence at 13 Avenue Lincoln, Osu, on the High Court notice board, and through a one-time publication in the Daily Graphic for a period of seven days.
