The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi, has welcomed the Minority Caucus’ call for a parliamentary probe into the Gold-for-Reserves programme, expressing confidence that such an investigation will vindicate the current administration.

The Minority, led by Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has demanded a probe with powers to subpoena all relevant documents and actors involved in the programme, as well as criminal prosecution where wrongdoing is established.

In response, Mr Gyamfi said he has nothing to hide and is prepared to provide full disclosure on the programme’s operations and outcomes.

He announced that from January 5, 2026, GoldBod and the Bank of Ghana will present detailed explanations to Parliament and the public to clarify the issues surrounding the programme.

According to him, the facts will show that losses have been significantly reduced compared to the previous administration and that the programme has played a role in restoring confidence in the economy.

Mr Gyamfi maintained that the Minority’s demand for a probe, rather than weakening the government’s position, will instead expose what he described as “political opportunism rooted in selective memory.”
