Globally acclaimed Ghanaian Kente weaver, Amos Homeda Osei, popularly known as Homeda Kente, has proudly represented Ghana at the prestigious AgroFest 2026 in Barbados.

The National Agricultural Exhibition ceremony, which took place on Friday at Queen’s Park, attracted dignitaries, cultural ambassadors, and agricultural stakeholders from across the region and beyond.

Homeda Kente was officially invited by the Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Amor Mottley, to participate in the highly celebrated event.

“I was invited and had the opportunity to gift a Kente cloth to the Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Amor Mottley, and the President of Suriname, Her Excellency Jennifer Geerlings-Simons. Officially, I was invited to come and promote my craft,” Homeda Osei stated.

Special Recognition and Cultural Exchange

The program, which began earlier in the week, featured exhibitions highlighting agriculture, culture, and entrepreneurship. Homeda Kente served as a special guest of honor, showcasing the intricate artistry and cultural symbolism embedded in Ghana’s traditional Kente fabric.

Before arriving in Barbados, the celebrated weaver had been in the United States, promoting Ghanaian fabrics and African heritage textiles on international platforms. His participation in AgroFest 2026 further strengthened cultural ties between Ghana and Caribbean nations.

Promoting Ghanaian Heritage Abroad

Homeda Kente’s presence at the exhibition underscored the global recognition of Ghana’s traditional weaving industry. By presenting handcrafted Kente pieces to high-level leaders, he not only elevated his brand but also highlighted Ghana’s rich cultural identity on the world stage.

AgroFest remains one of the Caribbean’s premier agricultural and cultural exhibitions, providing a platform for innovation, trade, and cross-cultural exchange.

For Homeda Kente, the invitation marks another milestone in his mission to promote Ghanaian craftsmanship worldwide.
