Osman Ayariga, Deputy National Youth Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has declared that the outcome of the Ayawaso East parliamentary by-election is a clear indication that the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been rejected by voters, insisting that President John Mahama is delivering on his mandate.

Speaking on Joy FM, Ayariga said the results demonstrate that Ghanaians are satisfied with the direction of the country under President Mahama’s leadership.

“The NPP has been voted out. President Mahama is performing, and the people are happy,” he stated emphatically.

According to him, the by-election results reflect growing public confidence in the government and renewed optimism about Ghana’s future. He maintained that the electorate’s decision confirms that the country is moving in the right direction under President Mahama.

Low Voter Turnout Not a Reflection of Government Performance

Addressing concerns about the relatively low voter turnout in the by-election, Ayariga dismissed suggestions that it was linked to dissatisfaction with the President’s performance.

He explained that the election was held on a working day, which naturally affected participation. Additionally, he noted that the ongoing Ramadan month contributed to the lower turnout, as many residents of Ayawaso East are Muslims observing fasting and religious activities.

“It being a working day and also Ramadan month contributed to the turnout. It has nothing to do with John Mahama not performing,” he clarified.

Ayariga stressed that the enthusiasm and support shown by voters who turned out to cast their ballots indicate that Ghanaians remain confident in the NDC administration.

“Ghanaians Are Happy”

The NDC youth leader further insisted that the by-election outcome sends a broader national message beyond the constituency.

He reiterated that citizens are encouraged by the government’s policies and governance approach, adding that many believe the country is steadily progressing under President Mahama’s stewardship.

“Ghanaians are happy that the country is moving in the right direction under John Mahama,” Ayariga concluded.

His remarks follow the Electoral Commission’s declaration of the NDC candidate as winner of the Ayawaso East parliamentary by-election, marking what Ayariga describes as another affirmation of public confidence in the ruling party.
