President John Dramani Mahama has assured Ghanaians that the country is firmly on the path to economic recovery, declaring that decisive reforms introduced by his government are restoring confidence at home and abroad.
Addressing Parliament during his 2026 State of the Nation Address, the President acknowledged the severe fiscal pressures and structural imbalances his administration encountered upon taking office. He said confronting those challenges required courage, discipline and an unwavering focus on long-term stability.
He recalled pledging to reset the economy through responsible governance and strategic reforms, noting that his administration has remained committed to that promise despite political pressures.
“Our choices have not always been easy,” he said, “but they have been necessary to restore trust, credibility and stability in our economic management.”
President Mahama highlighted steady improvements in key economic fundamentals, describing them as evidence that the nation’s recovery strategy is working. He added that Ghana is now better positioned to attract investment and drive inclusive growth.
Reiterating his government’s priorities, he said reforms remain focused on strengthening macroeconomic stability, improving revenue mobilisation, enhancing transparency and creating opportunities for businesses and households alike.
“Ghana is back. Ghana is working again and Ghana is open for business,” he reaffirmed, signalling renewed confidence in the country’s economic direction.
The President concluded by urging Parliament to continue supporting policies that promote fiscal discipline and sustainable development, stressing that stability and reform remain the cornerstone of Ghana’s long-term prosperity.
