A fire outbreak has swept through parts of the Kasoa New Market, prompting an emergency response from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).

In a statement shared on its official Facebook page, the GNFS said personnel from the Kasoa Fire Station and the Weija Fire Station were immediately deployed to the scene to contain the blaze.

The Service further disclosed that all available fire tenders and water pumps from Accra have been dispatched to support ongoing firefighting efforts, as firefighters battle the inferno to bring the situation under control.

As of the latest update, firefighting operations are ongoing, with officers working to prevent the blaze from spreading to other parts of the busy market.

The cause of the fire and the full extent of the damage remain unknown, while residents and traders have been urged to stay clear of the area to allow emergency teams to work safely.
