Member of Parliament for the people of Madina, Francis Xavier Sosu, has described the decision to detain Martin Kpebu as embarrassing.

“What has happened so far is seriously embarrassing and very disappointing. It doesn’t make legal sense to me because, in the first place, I don’t know how Martin is under investigation. If I have made an allegation against the OSP, how do I turn to be the one under investigation?”

He expressed shock at the OSP’s investigation into itself after Martin Kpeby levelled allegations against the office and its leader.

“In the first place, how can the OSP investigate itself? If there are allegations against the OSP, i am expecting that EOCO or other agencies of the state will take up that matter and investigate, and so the invitation of Martin in the first place is not legally justifiable. There is no basis for inviting him,” he explained on Accra-based Joy News.

The legislator indicated that detaining Martin Kpebu is worse because there is no basis.

“This is so wrong and must be condemned and must not be accepted in a democratic society. If Martin is not the subject of your investigation, there are people who are subjects of your investigation that you send your investigators to go and investigate. Martin is not the typical public officer that you want to investigate… This is a clear abuse of office and power,” he stated.
