President John Dramani Mahama has concluded a two-day working visit to the Upper West Region with an inspection of the proposed site for the construction of a new Wa Airport.

The site inspection formed part of activities marking the President’s ongoing #ResettingGhanaTour, which has taken him to various parts of the country to engage with citizens and assess development projects.

During the inspection, President Mahama was briefed on plans for the proposed airport project and its potential to enhance transportation and connectivity within the Upper West Region.

The proposed facility is expected to contribute to improved movement of people and goods while supporting economic activity and opening up new opportunities for businesses and residents in the region.

The inspection also underscored the government’s focus on advancing critical infrastructure projects as part of efforts to accelerate development and improve living conditions across the country.

The Upper West Region, with Wa as its capital, has long identified improved air connectivity as an important requirement for promoting investment, tourism and socio-economic development.

The President’s visit to the proposed airport site marked the final activity of his two-day working tour of the region, during which he engaged stakeholders and assessed key development priorities.

The government is expected to continue working on the necessary processes towards the development of the proposed Wa Airport as part of its broader infrastructure and development agenda.
