A Ghanaian man who recently fled xenophobic violence in South Africa is being given a fresh start back home, thanks to the intervention of prominent businessman Ibrahim Mahama.

Emmanuel Asamoah, who was relocated to Ghana after experiencing attacks abroad, is set to receive full financial backing for any business venture he chooses to pursue. The support package was revealed by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, following a meeting with the returnee.

According to the minister, the engagement took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where discussions centered on helping Asamoah rebuild his life and secure a stable future. He described the interaction as positive and encouraging, noting that government remains committed to supporting citizens who return under distressing circumstances.

Ablakwa further disclosed that Ibrahim Mahama had personally reached out and expressed readiness to fully sponsor Asamoah’s entrepreneurial ambitions. The gesture, he said, highlights the importance of private sector involvement in national efforts to support vulnerable citizens.

Asamoah’s experience in South Africa reflects broader concerns about recurring xenophobic incidents targeting foreign nationals. His return and the support he has received have sparked conversations about reintegration and the role of both government and individuals in offering meaningful assistance.

With financial backing now assured, attention turns to the kind of business Asamoah will establish and how the opportunity could help him regain stability after his ordeal. Officials say they remain hopeful his story will inspire stronger collaboration in supporting Ghanaians in need.
