Prophet ElBernard Apologises After Failed NPP Primary Prediction

Founder and leader of Spiritlife Revival Ministries, Prophet Bernard ElBernard Nelson-Eshun, has publicly apologised after a political prophecy he made ahead of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries did not come to pass.

In a statement shared across his official social media pages, the prophet admitted that his prediction that businessman and politician Kennedy Ohene Agyapong would win the NPP primaries and become the party’s flagbearer was incorrect. The prophecy had earlier been widely circulated through books, videos and multiple media appearances.

“I missed it. I was wrong. That word did not come to pass,” Prophet ElBernard said, adding an unreserved apology to Ghanaians and his followers.

He acknowledged that many people took the prophecy seriously because it was delivered with what he described as prophetic authority, noting that some individuals were affected emotionally, spiritually and politically as a result. According to him, the responsibility rests solely on his shoulders.

“I do not blame anyone. I accept full responsibility for this failed prophecy,” he stated.

Prophet ElBernard explained that the incident had forced him into a period of deep reflection, leading him to reassess how prophetic messages are communicated, especially when they concern national politics.

The apology follows heightened public attention on the prophecy, which was reiterated during the church’s 31st night crossover service attended by Mr Agyapong and his wife. On that occasion, the prophet linked the prediction to what he described as angelic revelations that had previously guided his pronouncements on political and national issues.

He had specifically tied Mr Agyapong’s political future to the NPP primaries held on January 31, 2026 — an outcome that ultimately did not occur.

In his latest remarks, Prophet ElBernard expressed concern that the failed prophecy may have shaken the faith of some believers and apologised to anyone whose trust in God or Christianity had been affected.

The development has once again stirred public discussion about the intersection of prophecy, religion and politics in Ghana.
