Allegations of Vote Inducement Trail Bryan Acheampong Campaign Ahead of NPP Flagbearer Race

The campaign team of New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, has come under scrutiny following the circulation of messages to party delegates allegedly promising money and other gifts ahead of the party’s upcoming flagbearer election.

According to sources within the party, the messages, which were widely shared among delegates, suggested financial rewards and gifts as incentives in the lead-up to the internal polls. The development has sparked concern among party faithful, with some delegates describing the move as an attempt to influence voting decisions during a critical phase of the party’s democratic process.

However, the Bryan Acheampong campaign team has strongly denied responsibility for the messages.

In a statement issued in Accra on Friday, January 30, 2026, the campaign described the circulating messages as false and misleading, insisting that Dr. Acheampong neither authored nor authorised them.

“Dr. Bryan Acheampong has not issued any SMS or communication promising money or Christmas gifts to delegates,” the statement said, urging party members to disregard the messages entirely.

The campaign team warned that the messages were deliberately intended to misinform delegates and distract the party at a crucial moment as it prepares to elect a flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.

Reaffirming its commitment to ethical politics, the statement stressed that the campaign remains guided by the principles of discipline, transparency, and integrity, and called on delegates to stay focused on the broader interests of the party.

The team further advised NPP members to rely only on official communications released through Dr. Acheampong’s verified platforms and authorised campaign channels.

Despite the denial, the incident has intensified conversations within the party about campaign conduct and the need to safeguard the credibility of the flagbearer selection process.
