Mahama Orders $78m Payment to Restart Agona–Nkwanta Road Works

President John Dramani Mahama has instructed the Ministry of Finance to release $78 million to Justmoh Construction Company to settle outstanding payments for work carried out on the Agona–Nkwanta Road since 2024.

The payment is expected to allow the contractor to return fully to site and speed up work on the road, which serves as a major transport link in the Western Region. The project has faced delays due to accumulated arrears owed to the construction firm.

According to the President, the move reflects his administration’s determination to ensure that ongoing infrastructure projects are not abandoned because of financial challenges inherited from the past.

“As I promised, we will continue all road projects we inherited from the previous government,” President Mahama said. “Contractors who were already on site before we assumed office have been asked to continue, and government is making the necessary payments to support their work.”

The directive on the Agona–Nkwanta Road follows a similar intervention by government to clear over $70 million in outstanding payments owed to the contractor handling the Ofankor–Nsawam Road, aimed at accelerating progress on that project as well.
