The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) marked a historic milestone on Saturday, November 29, 2025, hosting a warm and vibrant Golden Jubilee Soirée at the Labadi Beach Hotel to celebrate five decades of shaping Ghana’s musical heritage. The event brought together government officials, traditional leaders, veteran artistes, and music enthusiasts in an evening dedicated to honouring the past and envisioning a dynamic future for the creative sector.

Representing the Chief of Staff, the Deputy Chief of Staff (Administration), Hon. Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, delivered a stirring message applauding MUSIGA’s enduring contribution to national culture. She reaffirmed government’s commitment to expanding Ghana’s creative economy, describing the music industry as a catalyst for tourism, job creation, and national pride.

Hon. Bampoe Addo highlighted ongoing initiatives such as the GHS 20 million Creative Arts Fund, enhanced copyright protections, and new partnerships with digital platforms aimed at boosting local content. She urged creators to embrace technological advances, from AI to global distribution tools, stressing that “this is the time for Ghana to take its rightful place on the global creative stage.”

The evening featured spirited performances from renowned musicians and a touching tribute to highlife legends whose work laid the foundation for Ghana’s musical identity. Guests also witnessed the launch and auction of the MUSIGA@50 Commemorative Book, followed by the presentation of honours to individuals who have significantly shaped the industry.

MUSIGA President Bessa Simons expressed heartfelt gratitude to members, partners, and pioneers of the Union. He reaffirmed MUSIGA’s mission to nurture talent and build a stronger creative industry for the next generation.

The celebration closed with a unifying call to continue strengthening the music ecosystem as the Union steps confidently into its next 50 years.
