Leonardo Muylaert, a 37-year-old Brazilian lawyer who has turned into a viral sensation and real-life Superman, joined the eighth Akwasidae Festival at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi to familiarise himself with Asante customs and traditions.

The sensational lookalike of Superman film star Christopher Reeve, with the character name Clark Kent, also had the privilege to meet the King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

He was at the Palace with his girlfriend, Helenise Santos, who handles his agenda and shoots videos for his social media accounts, on November 9, 2025.

The Brazilian civil rights lawyer and philanthropist from Brasilia, led by Dr Agyarko, Mr Owusu Ansa and Dr Albert Dua, was grateful for the opportunity to experience the Asante tradition, he told the King.

“Thank you for the opportunity to learn about tradition. I can feel you are keeping your roots alive.”

Muylaert told His Majesty that his purpose is to spread joy across the world, and that has reached Ghana.

He said he had been to countries including Australia, Canada, Brazil and Ecuador, where he visits hospitals, schools and charities, trying to be a symbol of kindness and hope.

He used the occasion to present a portrait of Superman to the Asantehene.

Rise to Fame
The lawyer led a normal life until he unknowingly became a social media sensation due to his striking resemblance to Superman.

The incident occurred at the 2022 Comic-Con convention in São Paulo, where a fan secretly filmed him, mistaking him for Clark Kent, and shared the video on TikTok.

The video went viral, and Muylaert was dubbed “The Brazilian Superman”.

He was initially surprised and amused by the attention but later decided to take it further by ordering a Superman costume and started dressing up as the iconic superhero, exploring Brazil in his newfound alter ego.
