Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has inspected the ongoing ultramodern VIP Lounge project at the Accra International Airport and expressed confidence that the facility will be completed and handed over before the end of the year.

Mr. Ablakwa made this known in a Facebook post following his inspection of the project on Friday.

The Minister said he was impressed with the progress of work as well as the quality of execution at the facility.

According to him, the project is being undertaken without the use of taxpayer funds. He explained that the initiative is being funded as a corporate social responsibility (CSR) project, with Ghanaian businesses providing financial support directly to local contractors of their choice working on the facility.

He noted that the Estate Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is responsible for supervising the project to ensure that the required standards are maintained.

Mr. Ablakwa described the project as a demonstration of the potential of private-sector support in delivering important public infrastructure without relying on government funds or conventional public procurement processes.

“This project is a great symbol of what can be achieved without public funds and public procurement,” he said.

The Foreign Affairs Minister expressed confidence that the project would be completed and formally handed over within the year.

He ended his message with the words: “For God and Country.”
