Businessman George Essandoh has petitioned the Director-General of the Cyber Security Authority (CSA), requesting an investigation into a social media user operating under the names “wickedblogger,” “wickedbloggergh,” and “wickedblogger backup,” over allegations of online harassment and the dissemination of false information.

In a formal complaint, Essandoh alleged that the social media accounts have, over an extended period, published what he describes as false and defamatory content targeting him personally and his business, SSL Refinery.

According to the petition, the publications include what Essandoh claims are fabricated allegations of fraud, manipulated statements taken out of context, threats, and other abusive content. He argues that the posts have been widely circulated across social media platforms, leading to a decline in customer confidence and negatively affecting relationships with business partners.

Essandoh further alleged that, beyond the online publications, he has experienced direct harassment from the account operator and, in some instances, from followers allegedly influenced by the content shared on the platforms.

Citing the impact on his livelihood, business, and personal reputation, Essandoh has asked the Cyber Security Authority to investigate the activities of the accounts and determine whether their conduct violates Ghana’s cyber security, data protection, or communications laws.

He is also requesting the Authority to consider appropriate enforcement measures, including the removal of the disputed content, restrictions on the social media accounts where necessary, and possible referral for prosecution if any offences are established. Additionally, he has sought guidance on further steps to protect his legal rights and safeguard his businesses.

Essandoh stated that he is prepared to provide screenshots, links, and other evidence to support his claims during any investigation.

In addition to petitioning the Cyber Security Authority, Essandoh has also reported the matter to the National Security apparatus and the Cyber Crime Unit, seeking separate investigations into the alleged online activities.

As of the time of publication, the individual operating the social media accounts identified in the complaint had not publicly responded to the allegations, and no findings have been made by the authorities regarding the claims.
