MTN Ghana has announced the introduction of a new charge on Mobile Money (MoMo) transactions from wallets to bank accounts, set to take effect from June 1, 2026.

In a message sent to customers on Monday, May 25, the telecommunications giant disclosed that users will now pay a fee of 0.75 percent per transaction when transferring funds from their MoMo wallets to bank accounts.
According to the company, the charge will be capped at GH¢5 per transaction, regardless of the amount being transferred.
MTN Ghana explained that the adjustment forms part of efforts to enhance service delivery and improve the overall customer experience.
“This will help us continue to serve you better,” the company stated in its notice to customers.
The new fee is expected to impact millions of Ghanaians who rely heavily on Mobile Money for daily financial activities, including business transactions, savings, and payments.
Mobile Money remains one of the most widely used digital financial services in Ghana, playing a key role in driving financial inclusion and reducing reliance on cash transactions.
Industry observers say the introduction of the charge could influence how customers move funds between mobile wallets and traditional banking platforms, especially for frequent users of such services.
