Neurologist Dr Clement Jafaani Nabare donates computers and library to school

Dr Clement Jafaani Nabare, a student neurologist in Germany has donated a library and a computer centre to the Gia Community Primary and Junior High Schools in the Kassena Nankana East District.

He said the donation, which was meant to improve the teaching and learning environment in the area, was valued at GH¢ 65,000 and included four computers with accessories, chairs, writing and reading materials.

Dr Nabare also established an annual awards for brilliant but needy children in the community, saying the initiative was to help meet the academic expenses of students in the area.

He said the gesture was to give back to the community the support he had received and to encouraged the pupils in the area to take their studies seriously.

Deserving students were given GH¢20.00 each and a mathematical set, whiles Master Aaron Bafoga received GH¢ 300.00 for being the best student from the Gia JSS.

Dr Nabare said the gesture was not limited to only the Gia community and that every year he would render free services to various hospitals and clinics in the country.

Mr Ferdinand Achaa, Headmaster of the school thanked Dr Nabare for the gesture and promised to ensure that the most deserving students would merit the awards.

Mr Mark Woyongo, Upper East Regional Minister, said the poor results of students in the Region was a concern for all and appealed to all stakeholders to help reverse the trend.

He commended Dr Nabare for the good works and called on other philanthropists to emulate the young doctor’s example to improve on education in the area.

Mr Woyongo said government was determined to ensure that children became adept with ICT skills hence it was ensuring that all schools were connected to the national electricity grid.
