Ghana is set to welcome the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, H.E. Emmerson Mnangagwa, on a three-day State Visit from Wednesday, April 1 to Friday, April 3, 2026, as the two nations seek to deepen bilateral relations.

According to a statement from the Presidency on Tuesday, March 31, President Mnangagwa will arrive at the Accra International Airport on Wednesday, where he will be formally received by President John Dramani Mahama with full military honours.

The ceremonial welcome will include an inspection of a Guard of Honour mounted by the Ghana Armed Forces and a 21-gun salute.

In the evening, President Mahama will host a State Banquet in honour of his Zimbabwean counterpart, in a gesture that underscores the longstanding friendship between the two countries.

A key highlight of the visit will be bilateral talks at Peduase Lodge, preceded by a tête-à-tête between the two Heads of State. The discussions are expected to focus on strengthening cooperation across critical sectors, including trade, tourism, health, sanitation, agriculture, the fight against corruption, and job creation.

The engagements will culminate in the signing and exchange of Memoranda of Understanding covering areas of mutual interest, signalling a renewed commitment to closer collaboration.

During the visit, President Mnangagwa will also tour key institutions in Ghana’s development ecosystem. These include the Sweden Ghana Medical Centre, where he will be briefed on advancements in healthcare delivery, and the Accra Compost and Recycling Plant, which showcases innovations in waste management.

As part of the cultural dimension of the visit, the Zimbabwean leader will visit the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park to lay a wreath at the tomb of Ghana’s founding President, Kwame Nkrumah, in tribute to his enduring legacy.

President Mnangagwa is expected to depart Ghana on Friday, April 3, with full departure honours at the Jubilee Lounge, bringing the state visit to a close.

The visit is anticipated to further cement diplomatic ties between Accra and Harare, while opening new pathways for cooperation in a rapidly evolving global landscape.

The statement was signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications.
