The Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has urged a 20 member delegation made up of officials from the Ministry, a cultural troupe, artisans, artistes and traders, travelling to India for a training and cultural festival to maximise opportunity, learn diligently, and represent Ghana with excellence.

Addressing the delegation ahead of their departure, the Minister described the programme as a rare and significant opportunity, noting that the group would be the last cohort to benefit from the training arrangement under its current framework. She encouraged participants to observe global best practices, build skills, and contribute meaningfully wherever their expertise is required.

“The best way to show your appreciation is to be in great demand, learn as much as you can, and offer help where it is needed and appreciated,” the Minister stated. Drawing from personal experience, she emphasised that sharing knowledge enhances, rather than diminishes, one’s value, and urged the delegation to maintain open hearts and minds throughout the programme.

Hon. Gomashie expressed confidence in the delegation, and charged them to make both Ghana and their host country proud, stressing that their conduct and performance would reflect the nation’s creative potential.

The Minister also shared her anticipation of receiving firsthand accounts of their experiences upon return, noting that although she has never visited India herself, she was proud to facilitate their journey and professional growth, commending the Government of India for their continued support to Ghana’s Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts sector, describing the collaboration as instrumental in building capacity and strengthening cultural ties between the two countries.

The Indian High Commissioner to Ghana, H.E. Manish Gupta, joined the Minister during the engagement with the delegation, reaffirming India’s commitment to cultural cooperation and exchange between the two nations. The festival is one of India’s largest cultural events and will provide a major platform for showcasing Ghana’s rich cultural heritage to an international audience.

The training programme forms part of ongoing efforts by the Ministry to develop human capital in the creative arts, enhance international exposure, and position Ghana’s cultural professionals competitively on the global stage.
