Reports emerging from Accra indicate that sixpeople have died and several others have been injured during a military recruitment exercise at the El-Wak Sports Stadium.

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) confirmed in a press release that six people lost their lives and several sustained injuries following a stampede during the 2025/2026 recruitment exercise on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.

According to the statement, the tragic incident occurred around 6:20 a.m., when a large number of applicants breached security protocols and forced their way into the stadium before the official start of the screening process. The GAF noted that the injured were receiving emergency treatment at the 37 Military Hospital.

“The Ghana Armed Forces assures the general public that medical teams are working tirelessly to stabilise affected individuals,” the statement said, adding that arrangements were underway to notify the families of the deceased.

The GAF has extended its deepest condolences to the bereaved families and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.
