Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bernard Allotey Jacobs has disclosed that the seemingly treasonable comments about toppling the Akufo-Addo government in a Coup D’ Etat is part of the planned agenda of the NDC.
Speaking on a local radio station in the Central Regional capital of Cape Coast, Mr. Allotey Jacobs, who is a member of the National Executive Committee said the idea of inciting a coup has been mentioned at NEC recently but discussions on it were inconclusive.
“It is therefore shocking that, Koku will prematurely begin to run his mouth on it this early.” He added angrily.
The vociferous NDC Cadre, however said its difficult blaming Koku because the suggestion at NEC was necessary because the NPP had planned consolidating power through the US military collaboration.
According to Allotey Jacobs, a party stalwart revealed some classified information that showed that the recently signed agreement will in a way be used to consolidate the NPP’s continuous stay in power and if that is so, a coup will be our most reliable option.
General Secretary Asiedu Nketia, in a statement only distanced the party from Koku Anyidoho’s coup plot outburst, but categorically refused to condemn him, thus giving credence to the Allotey Jacobs’ position that a coup is a plan under consideration by the NDC.
“The NDC party has a way of making information from the party known to the public. What Koku Anyidoho said is his opinion and not the position of the NDC party. Koku Anyidoho did not speak on behalf of the NDC as a party. He expressed as an opinion. Those are the words of Koku Anyidoho…he didn’t speak on behalf of the NDC”. The statement said.
Koku has called for what he described as a civil unrest aimed at toppling the legitimately elected Nana Akufo-Addo presidency and government which won elections defeating John Mahama’s NDC miserably in the 2016 elections.
