Raila Odinga finally sworn in as Kenyan president

Kenya’s Opposition Leader Raila Odinga is expected to be sworn in today.

Kenyans are asking questions as to who will swear in Mr. Ondinga as President of that country.

According to the kenyan Constitution provides in Article 141 provides that the President should be sworn in, in public before the Chief Justice, or in his absence, the Deputy Chief Justice.

There has been speculation that a ‘Nasa-leaning’ judge might be the one to administer the oath of office.

But according to Attorney-General Githu Muigai, anyone who swears in mr. Odinga could attract death penalty.

All African countries are looking forward to what might happen in Kenya. Kenya will be the first African country to have two Presidents at once.

Raila-Kalonzo is not here, he will be sworn-in later because of what happened. You will know later

12:45pm: Police use teargas to disperse NASA supporters who had blocked Kenyatta Avenue and Uhuru Highway roundabout.

11:00am: Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka now says that NASA is holding consultations on the way forward following the media shut down by the government.

10:45am: NASA leaders are currently held up in a meeting at the Intercontinental Hotel in Nairobi ahead of the swearing.

10:30am: Raila expected at Uhuru Park from 12pm.

10:15am: It is not clear a what time the swearing in will begin. No public address system has been put in place at the venue.

10:00am: Its official. Citizen TV has been switched off. Communication Authority officials have shut down the Limuru transmission stations.

9:30am: Reports have emerged that the government has shut down Citizen Tv for allegedly airing the NASA swearing-in. The reports remain unconfirmed.

9:15am: Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka expected at Uhuru Park in an hour. Gladys Wanga confirms.

9:00am: NASA supporters continue streaming to Uhuru Park.

8:55am: NASA leaders arrive at Uhuru Park. A section of NASA leaders have started arriving at Uhuru Park led by Homa Bay Women Rep Gladys Wanga.

8:40am: Police release buses ferrying Nasa supporters earlier seized for traffic offences; they are free to proceed to Nairobi, Voi OCPD Chesire says.

8:30am: Many left puzzled as bee hives are found at Uhuru Park behind the VIP section.

8:15am: Anti-riot police officers have withdrawn from Uhuru. It is not clear why the officers were withdrawn from the park.

8:00am: A handful of supporters have started streaming at Uhuru Park without any interference. Police on horses are seen patrolling the venue.
