The race for a running mate to partner 2020 flagbearer of the main opposition party, John Dramani Mahama, has been heating up by the day.
Several names have popped up as people who could be partner former President Mahama who is seeking to lead the country once again.
The names have included various appointees during persons appointed into various positions during his era and political activists in the NDC.
General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia became the surprise name to have emerged as the potential partner for John Mahama for the 2020 elections.
Former Chief Executive of the Ghana National Petroleum Company (GNPC) Alex Mould in recent times have emerged as the front runner for the position.
He has in several interviews expressed interest in partnering John Mahama to defeat the incumbent, Nana Akufo-Addo.
“I am ready to serve the party in whatever position especially in operations and my experiences in various areas including economics and finance makes me more than qualified for various positions…,” he said during an interview on Accra-based Power FM.
Just when everyone thought the man who has campaigned for the position using his Ashanti lineage as trump card can emerge as the suitor for Mr Mahama, someone who everyone saw as an under dog in the race seem to be taking over now.
Information from the corridors of the NDC indicate that the party’s flagbearer favours the selection of businessman Leslie Mensah Tamakloe as his running mate.
Mr Mahama, according to our sources wants the businessman to be his partner due to his belief he has what it takes to make the NDC win the 2020 polls.
Mr Tamakloe who hails from the Volta Region of Ghana, the world bank of the NDC has been touted within the NDC as a personality with unblemished track records in all his public life.
It is believed that he will help spice up the Mahama ticket for the elections as the Volta Region has not had any Presidential candidate from the NDC since former President Rawlings.
Mr Tamakloe is also an accomplished entrepreneur, Consultant in ICT, Energy and National Infrastructure Development in Ghana and abroad with over 30 years working experience in related endeavors.
Due to his businesses, he has a lot of international connection. His distinguished leadership has acquired him a lot of exposure among the international communities both in UK, USA, EUROPE and Japan.
He is currently the Managing Director, Ghana Office, Japan Oil Co Limited engaged in wide range of infrastructural Development and oil and Gas related Businesses.
Relationship with John Mahama
In 2015, he served as Board of Directors of the Metro Mass Transit Limited where he provided key initiatives at Board levels that saw massive transformation in the transport industry in Ghana.
