Manasseh defends Akufo-Addo over comments on women

Multimedia investigative Journalist, Manasseh Azure Awuni has mounted a spirited defence for President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo over his comments about women at the Women Deliver Conference in Canada.

President Akufo-Addo came under intense attack after he was reported to have said despite the fact majority of the country’s population are women not much political action had been witnessed in their push for greater inclusion in Ghana’s political administration.

“We are not seeing enough dynamism and activism on the part of those who are seeking. I am talking about dynamism where it matters…electing people to Parliament, controlling political parties because they are the instruments by which our societies make decisions.

“We are talking about decisions, not wishes and hopes, we are talking about decisions that are going to make the difference,” President Akufo-Addo said.

Manasseh in a Facebook post sighted by said the president committed no crime in his comments arguing that the bar should not be lowered for women by allocating a quota system for them in politics or leadership.

“Asking for a quota system is wrong. The bar should not be lowered for women. Instead, we should clear the hurdles in the running tracks of women so they can compete freely and fairly. Ursula Owusu Ekuful should be respected in parliament just like any other male MP because, like them, she contested and won on merit. She was not allocated a seat in the house because of her vagina.

FIFA forensic audit of Ghana FA found no corruption against Kwesi Nyantakyi

A forensic audit conducted by FIFA on the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has found no acts corruption or financial impropriety on Kwesi Nyantakyi during his tenure, can exclusively reveal.

The audit conducted on the orders of the world governing body six months ago also cleared members of the Executive Committee of the GFA of any acts of malfeasance.

The FIFA auditing officials, who spent about one month in Ghana investigating the financial affairs of the federation, discovered that neither corruption nor embezzlement took place at the GFA.

The audit report concluded that the Ghana FA has only ‘perception issues’ to deal with since media reports of corruption within the federation are ‘wide off the mark’, the report said.

However, the FIFA auditors recommended that the slim accounts office staff must be boosted while modern accountancy software used by some federations like the South African FA must be acquired by the Ghana FA to ease the workload.

The audit report has been made available to the Normalisation Committee of the GFA for about two months now but it is not known why it has so far been kept secret from the public.

The report will come as a huge relief for Nyantakyi and the Executive Committee of the Ghana FA as there were suspicions of corruption within the federation.

Since Nyantakyi left office, Ghana football has suffered some paralysis as the Normsalisation Committee has struggled to meet the expectations of the football fraternity.

This is also a boost for the former Ghana FA boss in his fight to clear his name after the sting operation by Anas Aremeyaw Anas made allegations of corruption against him.

The forensic audit was sparked by Nyantakyi’s resignation from his position as the President of the Ghana FA in the wake of an undercover investigation that claimed he took bribes.

Nyantakyi resigned his Caf and Fifa posts but claimed the footage had been doctored to falsely incriminate him.

Despite that the adjudicatory chamber of Fifa’s ethics committee banned him for life from “all football-related activities at both national and international level”.

The former Ghana FA chief has taken the matter to the Court of Arbitration for Sport where he is challenging the FIFA decision.

He has also sent Anas to court in Ghana claiming the violation of his human rights and also seeking damages for defamation.

“You Are Not More NPP Than Me”; Stop ‘Sakawa’ Journalism And Help Ghana Develop – A-Plus To Kwame Sefa Kayi

Controversial Musician cum Politician, Kwame Asare Obeng known as A-Plus has lashed out at Peace FM Kokroko morning show host, Kwame Sefa Kayi and some leading journalists in the country including Kwasi Pratt jnr and Kwaku Barko, describing them as sakawa journalists.

He said these elderly journalist sit on Radio/TV with hypocritical spectacles misleading the people in the wrong direction because they think that whatever they say is final and the gospel truth.

They only think about themselves and careless about Ghana, because all of you from Kwasi Pratt, Kwaku Barko Sefa Kai, all these kind of journalists are sakawa journalists.

According A Plus, at the time the issue of Kolebu Teaching Hospital came up, Kwame Sefa Kayi met him at Roman Ridge and told him that what he(A Plus) was doing was wrong, because his actions were “calling the government out”.

So when people are dying at Kole-bu you don’t care, you told me that, i was calling the government out and if it were to be somewhere ‘kuraa’, i won’t be walking here by now… A plus alleged.

You are NPP and i am NPP but me, when something is wrong i will say it. You don’t care about Ghana, one day when something happens in this country you won’t be happy.. he added.

You Kwame Sega Kayi, you invited Abu Jinapor on your show to interview him just to do damage control, the day you were interview him i sent you a message and said, Sefa what you are doing is not right, you have to listen to the issue. But your interest was not in the dying Ghanaians, your interest was saving your government in power.

A Plus was commenting through a Live facebook chat on the ban placed on Shatta Wale and Stone Bwoy by Charter House board for last Saturday disturbances at the VGMA awards night in Accra.

He said the organisers must be banned and arrested because they are to blame for all the happens at the venue and that, it was unnecessary banning the two artists for what happened.

Mr Obeng said the commentary and pronouncements been made by Kwame Sefa Kayi who was MC for the night were rather unfortunate and lack coherence.

Kwame Sefa Kayi carries himself as if he has the final say to everything and whatever he says is gospel, people must stop pretending as if they are righteous and holy enough, we know people in this country, we all used to smoke in the hood, though I just stop four years ago.

John Mahama has ‘unfinished business’ with Ghanaians – Sam George

The outspoken MP believes Mahama has learned a lot from the NDC’s defeat in 2016 and is now a more refined politician.

According to him, the NDC flagbearer has unfinished business with Ghanaians due to the failings of the Akufo-Addo government.

“This Mahama is one who has been toughened by the vicissitude of life, by the shock of an electoral defeat, by the fact that we may have taken certain things for granted in the past. Now, he’s realised that every minute counts. People are seeing it,” Mr. George said on Citi TV.

“If you look at his communications, listen to his language, [and you] listen to the things he says… you will realise that he has become a more focused Mahama. He knows what he is about. He’s got an unfinished business, he feels partly responsible for the hardships Ghanaians are going through.”

He added that the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has continued to fail Ghanaians since assuming office.

The legislator said the insecurity in the country is particularly disturbing, pointing to the kidnapped Takoradi girls case as well as the brutal murder of Tiger Eye PI investigative journalist Ahmed Suale.

Mr. George also criticised the Akufo-Addo government over its decision to close the fishing season.

According to him, although the idea behind the decision is a good one, the mode of implementation is not the best.

“The only way this ban will be effective is if it’s an ECOWAS decision, across the borders. That way the fish can replenish stock, they are disenfranchising Ghanaian local fishermen for Togolese fishermen.

“It is not a bad idea sensu stricto, however the implementation is the problem of this government. They claim they have the men [but] we’ve realized that they don’t even have boys,” the MP lamented.

Zipline medical drones: Only witches and wizards hate national progress – Okyenhene

The Okyenhene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin II, says only “witches and wizard” will attempt to sabotage government policies which are aimed at national progress.

The Paramount Chief of the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area made the statement during Wednesday’s launch of the drones for medical supplies initiative.

While commending the initiative, the Okyenhene noted that not every Ghanaian will be happy with the introduction of the drones for medical supply service.

According to him, the country needs sincere and committed personnel to make the technology work.

He said, instead of sabotaging such an initiative, everyone must come together to support it.

“The technology cannot do the work on its own. We need people who are going to be committed. Genuine and sincere people who will work to make this thing work,” the Okyenhene said.

“There are people sitting somewhere who are going to say: ‘We’re going to destroy this by stealing the blood. The blood will never get to the table where the doctors need them.’ In this country, drugs at a warehouse in Tema disappeared. So, I’m saying that anyone who doesn’t like progress is a bad person and also a witch/wizard,” he added.

The first Zipline medical drone centre was on Wednesday inaugurated at Omenako in the Abuakwa North Municipality of the Eastern Region.

The centre is the first of four centres that will be built by the end of the year to boost healthcare delivery in the country.

The drone service will help hospitals receive medical packages between 15 to 17 minutes after making requests via WhatsApp or SMS.

Zipline will be running at a capacity of 150 deliveries per day scalable to 500 per day after it is launched fully.

Meanwhile, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has urged Ghanaians not to politicise the drones for medical supplies initiative.

He said “we cannot reduce this service to the usual politicking because anybody who is dying will not be asked to show their party card before care is extended to them.”

Families of kidnapped girls to demonstrate against CID Boss

The families of the Takoradi kidnapped girls have threatened to stage a massive protest against the CID Boss, COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo Danquah and government for failing to bring back their girls after several promises.

They have set 2nd May 2019 as the day for the demonstration.

The concerned families will be transported by buses from Takoradi to Accra where they’ll be demanding the resignation of CID Boss.

The Head of the Investigative wing of the Ghana Police Service on April 2 2019, announced to the world that the CID has discovered the location of the three kidnapped girls.

The accused standing trial for allegedly kidnapping the three Takoradi girls, Samuel Wills, was last month heckled by parents of Priscilla Blessing Bentum and Ruthlove Quayeson.

The frustrated mothers confronted Samuel Wills of the whereabouts of their children, but to no avail.

The Director-General of the CID, DCOP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah addressing journalists at a press conference on Tuesday, 2nd April 2019, said the police know the whereabouts of the girls but will not disclose it for their safety.

“It’s taken us over three months to even identify where the ladies are, and what we don’t want to do is do anything that will jeopardize the safety of that. So we are working very hard. All the stakeholders who are supposed to be on board are on board and hopefully, the girls will be brought back safe and sound,” DCOP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah said.

Priscilla Blessing Bentum was first kidnapped on August 17th 2018, while Ruthlove Quayeson was kidnapped on December 4, 2018 and Priscilla Mantsebeah Koranchie also kidnapped on December 21st 2018.

Police Arrest Lilwin’s former Manager Zack on Prophet Nigel Gaisie’s orders

Founder and leader of the True Word Prophetic Fire Ministry, Prophet Nigel Gaisie this morning called for the arrest of Zack, former manager of popular Kumawood actor Kwadwo Nkansah Lilwin for storming his church premises to cause fear and destroying some properties.

This arrest according to a close source who spoke to was made on Tuesday 23rd April, 2019 in the morning after Zack was invited by police.

According to the source, Zack who is being prepared for court was sent to the church premises by the Police Criminal Investigations Department for allegations leveled against him by the head pastor.

Last week the head pastor revealed to Kumawood actor and musician, Lil Win during a prophetic session in his church that his former manager Zack has ‘locked the former’s voice’ spiritually with a padlock under black magic practices.

Thw man of God added that , because of the purported spiritual machinations by Zack, Lil Win is slowly losing his voice and would soon be dumb if things are not reversed in the spiritual realms for him.

After he made that revelation, Lil Win’s former manager, Zack reacted in a Facebook live video, challenging the man of God to bring out the padlock he claims has been used to lock Lil Win’s voice else he would not enjoy the aftermouth of his own prophecy.

Zack and his boys later went to the church premises on Sunday evening to question the man of God who suggested that he took Lilwin to a juju man.
